In October 2025, Central Vietnam suffered from a storm and flood disaster considered the worst in Vietnam’s recorded history, taking place from October 27–30 and November 2–3, 2025. In Hue specifically, rainfall reached up to 1,800 mm in just 24 hours – ranking second in the world for single-day rainfall intensity. The consequences were devastating: over 44,000 households were flooded above floor level, and approximately 200,000 households lost power.

Right in the eye of that natural disaster, in its role as the Facility Management service provider for AEON Mall Hue, the AEON Delight (Vietnam) team collaborated with the shopping mall’s Management Board to implement various emergency measures to ensure safety for customers, employees, and the community. AEON Mall Hue thus became a safe haven during those days of heavy rain and flooding.
On-site strength: When the shopping mall becomes a shared home
Without hesitation, the AEON Delight (Vietnam) team in Hue proactively coordinated and implemented a series of solutions to ensure continuous shopping mall operations, while simultaneously protecting the safety of customers, staff, and the surrounding community:
- Establishing emergency shelters – turning the shopping mall space into a safe resting place for people unable to return home due to rising floodwaters.
- Setting up charging stations – providing peace of mind through being “connected” with loved ones during hardship, while strictly monitoring equipment for overheating risks to ensure fire safety.
- Receiving and safeguarding sheltered vehicles – preserving the assets of customers and local residents, helping customers feel reassured amidst the hardship.

Honors from Japan: Two awards, one journey
In recognition of these contributions, in December 2025, the AEON Delight (Vietnam) team in Hue had the honor of receiving the Da Jiman ADJ 2025 Award – “THE 5th GOOD PRACTICE CONTEST Miracle of AEON DELIGHT VIETNAM”, presented by AEON Delight Japan in Japan – an award honoring the best practices across the entire AEON Delight network in all countries. Following that honor, on April 23, 2026, also in Japan, AEON Delight (Vietnam) was presented with the Peace Award by the AEON Group, acknowledging its practical contributions to protecting human safety and maintaining stable facility operations in a disaster zone.

Representing the collective team traveling to Japan to receive the award, Mr. Ton That Nhat Quang – Operations Manager of AEON Delight (Vietnam) in Hue – shared:
“What drove us was not anxiety, but responsibility. As the Facility Management service provider for AEON Mall Hue, we clearly understand that protecting people as well as assets and facilities is our responsibility and duty. At the same time, we recognized that under natural disaster conditions, AEON Mall Hue is not just a place of business, but can also become a place where people turn to for safety. That very understanding helped us remain calm, coordinate closely, and act with discipline. Despite the difficult conditions, the team’s morale remained very steady, because everyone shared one common goal: ensuring safety and maintaining stable operations.”
One journey, one shared pride
From an immediate on-site decision to act on a night of rain and flood, to two prestigious consecutive awards from Japan – the journey of the AEON Delight (Vietnam) team is a testament to the values the company continually pursues: safety is not merely an operational slogan, but a commitment realized through responsibility, professionalism, and timely action for customers, partners, and the community.
